Do You Know?

With a smile on his lips
He asked me,
Where are you going?
If you even know?

Currently, I replied
I’m caught in the middle
Of the straight and the narrow
Thinking backwards
Moving forward
Sliding sideways
And tripping over
The tune of a melody
That only I can hear.

Recovering from
That winter solstice storm
Still with my wits, legs and arms
Yet in all his thunder
And tempests profane
I’m stumbling away
Not quite the same.

My destination, I’m sure
Is a location
Of no importance to you
I’m just a girl
Unfinished at best
In this story
Of where East meets West.
